Let Us Spread the World With Sunshine #2

My Grandfather was a career bartender. The kind of fellow who would light your smoke over the bar, adjust his tie-clip, and make sure your change included a fifty-cent piece or a silver dollar.

He also had a fascination with his Polaroid Land Camera -- taking it with him to work and snapping photos of snappy guys and gals that he would probably never see again. His shining moment, though he wasn't aware of it, was the fact that he bartended in the same ballroom that the Shining was filmed in. Wish I could have made that connection before he passed on (though I dojn't think I would have shown him the entire movie).

Cheers!

B, do you have his entire collection of Polaroids? It could make an interesting show or a book as you said on Scout & Navigator. Are they all as cool as this one is?

Where was The Shining shot?

It's really weird ... I seem to remember watching the credits of the Shining and seeing the Broadmoor Hotel (Colorado Springs) in there as an interior shot location. But, now I'm doubting myself --- I'll have to research it more. Only because a site I was just on said they did some exterior shots in Estes park, Colorado and the rest was shot on a soundstage. So, I may be wrong ...

BUT, regardless, I have a bunchy of photos (cocktail waitresses, strangers, brides, grooms, etc) that he took over the years. I may finally determine that this photo of Morty & Hal was the best one ... and in that case, I will drop the endeavor to create the retrospective.
